Clearing Land in Washington County

Chipley is the county seat of Washington County. It sits where Interstate 10 and US-90 cross State Road 77, in the heart of the Florida Panhandle. Head out of town in almost any direction and you’re into rolling, wooded country with farms, pastures and rural homesites. That’s a very different job from clearing a flat lot near the coast.

Common Chipley-area projects include:

  • Acreage clearing with excavator mulching: our excavator mulcher grinds trees, brush and heavy vegetation into mulch in one pass. It handles material a bush hog can’t, and it leaves a mulch layer on the ground instead of a pile to burn or haul.
  • Selective clearing on wooded lots: keep the hardwoods and pines you want, and clear the undergrowth around them.
  • Pasture cleanup: pushing back brush and saplings that have crept into open ground.
  • Fence line and boundary clearing: opening up overgrown property lines.
  • Stump and debris removal: cleaning up after storms, old timber work or past projects.

Rolling Ground Means Grading and Drainage Matter

On sloped and rolling land, where the water goes after you clear can matter as much as the clearing. Once vegetation comes off, we can grade the site so runoff moves away from your house pad or driveway, install French drains where water collects, and bring in fill dirt to build up the pad. Parts of the area sit on karst limestone, and Falling Waters State Park just south of town is built around a sinkhole. If you’ve noticed low spots or depressions on your property, point them out when we visit.

Gravel Driveways for Country Properties

Long rural drives are a natural fit for a gravel driveway. Gravel costs less than concrete, installs faster and handles changes in the ground without cracking. We do the grading, base prep, delivery and spreading.

Permits in Chipley and Washington County

Inside city limits, check with the City of Chipley. Outside town, clearing and building permits go through Washington County, not Bay County. Ask about permits before work starts, especially on larger tracts or near wetlands.
